1. Chosen by a group made up of

•  Roth family member, if available

•  One ELCMA Development Committee member

• Two "at large" folks from ELCMA's network

 2.  Chosen from nominations made by members of the ELCMA network

3.  Recognition Award will be given to a congregation or parish that serves an Appalachian      community and does one or more of the following:

• is actively engaged in identifying assets in the congregation for service to the community

• intentionally reaches out to their community in an effective and sensitive manner

• serves the community through effective organizing

• intentionally supports the ministry of ELCMA through a replicable model of economic development or church growth through financial and /or people contributions

• works effectively in their parish to multiply ministry through recruitment of laity for meaningful ministry

4.  Receives

• Recognition at the ELCMA Assembly and has an opportunity to highlight their ministry for the assembly

•  Presentation of a certificate of recognition by a ELCMA Council person &/or Coordinator at a worship service in that congregation/parish

•  Recognition is given to congregation/parish at their synod assembly by ELCMA Coordinator/Council person

•  Story of recognition award and parish sent out electronically, in ELCMA's Appalbites, and in Prayer Ventures and the Lutheran Magazine.
